Jasminum Nudiflorum, commonly known as ‘Winter Jasmine’, a recipient of the prestigious RHS Award of Garden merit is a Winter flowering climber with arching bright green stems and dark green pinnate leaves. During Winter and early Spring an abundance of bright yellow, star shaped flowers appear on bear stems. A welcoming sight on a cold Winters day, Jasmine Nudiflorum is not self supporting, so will need the help of some canes or wire if grown against a wall or trellis, but is equally happy when left to scramble freely.
Looking After Your Jasminum Nudiflorum
Generally pest and disease free an easy to grow Winter flowering climber in many if not all locations. A low maintenance plant which can benefit from a sunny or partially shaded area in all types of garden. Jasmine will tolerate most soils especially if kept moist, but well drained, once planted apply a generous mulch of well rotted garden compost around the base, this will help retain some moisture during the drier Summer months. Any pruning required to remove damaged of unwanted stems to maintain shape or prevent overcrowding is best done early Spring, when the addition of a good quality general purpose fertiliser will help to encourage fresh healthy new shoots during the coming season.
