Escallonia Macrantha, also known as ‘Red Escallonia’ is a recipient of the much coveted RHS Award of Garden Merit and is a compact, evergreen shrub of upright habit.  It is noted for it’s oval shaped, glossy dark green fragrant leaves which provide a good solid backdrop to the masses of tubular bright red flowers that are produced throughout the Summer months.  This Escallonia is an excellent pollinator attracting a variety of beneficial insects into the garden. It is suitable for the mixed shrub border, providing year round colour or growing as an informal hedge or screen, also salt tolerant so ideal for any coastal planting schemes.
