Daphne Odora Aureomarginata, also known as ‘Fragrant Daphne’ and a holder of the prestigious RHS Award of Garden Merit is a compact mound forming evergreen shrub with dark green lance shaped leaves narrowly edged with yellow.   The clusters of highly fragranced pale pink flowers are evident from February to March and are later followed by spherical red fruit which are an ideal food source for the local birds and other garden visitors.  A suitable shrub for a sunny, sheltered position where its attractive variegated foliage can brighten the garden in Winter.  Ideally planted next to a path or within a mixed border where its fragrance may be appreciated.

Looking after your Daphne Odora Aureomarginata

Generally pest and disease free. Easy to grow, ornamental shrub, suitable in many if not all locations which will benefit from a sunny or semi shaded area in all types of garden, preferring a fertile moist well drained soil.  In Spring apply a good layer of mulch around the base of the plant to help keep the soil moist during the warmer Summer months, at the same time applying a good general purpose fertiliser to promote new growth in the coming season.
