Cotinus Coggygria, also known as ‘Smoke Bush or ‘Smoke Tree’, is a bushy deciduous shrub or small tree that is native to Europe and Asia. With its unique, billowy clouds of pink flowers that bloom in late Spring or early Summer, this plant adds a touch of colour and beauty to any garden.

One of the key features of this Cotinus is its striking foliage. The leaves are typically green but are tinged with blue, turning into shades of yellow, red and orange in Autumn making it an excellent choice for adding colour to the landscape during this season.

Propagation of Cotinus coggygria can be done by taking softwood cuttings in the summer or by seed.

How to care for your Cotinus Coggygria

-Placement: Prefers full sun to partial shade.

-Soil: Prefers well-drained soil and can be grown in a wide range of soil pH, from acidic to neutral.

-Watering: Once established, it is drought tolerant and does not require frequent watering. Water regularly during its first growing season to establish a strong root system.

-Fertilising: Fertilise in the Spring with a balanced fertiliser.

-Pruning: Prune your plant in late Winter or early Spring, before new growth appears. This will help to maintain its shape and encourage new growth.

With the right care and conditions, the Cotinus Coggygria will grow to be a beautiful and striking plant in your garden.
