Corokia Sunsplash or ‘Wire Bush’ as it is often known, is an evergreen, upright shrub, with broad lance shaped grey-green leaves with pale yellow margins, occasionally flushed orange. The yellow star shaped flowers that appear in late Spring/Summer are followed by orange, tinged pink berries in Autumn. This evergreen garden shrub is suitable for most areas of the garden, and if planted in groups can form a low, informal hedge. It can also be planted in a container.
Looking After Your Corokia Sunsplash
Generally pest and disease free, the Corokia Sunsplash is an easy to grow plant in many if not all locations. It is a low maintenance evergreen, flowering garden shrub which will benefit from a sunny or partially shaded position in a fertile, moist, but well drained soil in all types of garden from cottage planting schemes to town, courtyard and coastal areas, often grown to provide an informal colourful hedge. Any pruning to maintain shape, and remove damaged or unwanted branches, is usually done late Winter/early Spring, also an ideal time to apply a good quality fertiliser to promote healthy, strong, fresh new growth during the coming season.
