Clethra Fern Valley Pink, or Summer Sweet, a fragrant, medium sized, rounded, deciduous shrub of upright habit, with oval bright green leaves which turn a lovely golden yellow towards the Autumn. This attractive shrub also known as the sweet pepper bush produces fragrant bottle brush – like spikes of scented pale pink, long lasting flowers during the Summer and are particularly attractive to butterflies and other beneficial insects for the garden, also making a wonderful addition when used as part a of flower arrangements, these are then followed by dark seed capsules, a magnet for the local bird population. Ideal for the mixed shrub border, or woodland planting schemes.
Looking After Your Clethra Fern Valley Pink
Generally pest and disease free, an easy to grow hardy garden shrub in many if not all locations. A low maintenance plant benefiting from a sunny or partially shaded, fertile area in all types of garden, from cottage planting schemes to woodland landscaping. Prune late Winter/early Spring to remove any damaged or unwanted branches and maintain required size, also apply a good quality general purpose fertiliser during the Spring to promote strong, healthy new growth in the coming season.
