Ceanothus Zanzibar, also known as Californian Lilac, is an evergreen, low spreading, medium sized, bushy shrub with striking foliage, its yellow and green variegated leaves deepen to a rich golden colour, contrasting beautifully against the densly coloured bright-blue flower clusters produced from late Spring through to the Autumn.

Looking After Your Ceanothus Zanzibar

An easy to grow shrub, prefering a sunny location, and planted away from any cold, drying Winter winds, making this evergreen plant a suitable candidate for growing against a south facing wall, providing a background splash of intense blue summer colour for any border. A good fertile soil which is moist, but well drained will ensure you have a healthy, happy shrub. Although generally maintenance free, any pruning required to prevent over crowding should be done after flowering.
