Dianella Tasmanica, often referred to as the ‘Tasman Flax Lily’ is an evergreen, clump forming perennial with deep green sword-like leaves becoming red tinged during the Winter.  Throughout the Summer months small dark blue flowers on erect stem flourish, followed by violet blue berries, a magnet for the many birds and other garden wild life visiting the garden.  Superb addition to the flower border, and low enough to plant at the front to form a colourful edge.

Looking After Your Dianella Tasmanica

Generally pest free, an easy to grow perennial preferring a humus rich, well drained soil in a sunny or partially shaded area of the garden away from any very cold, drying Winter winds. Although generally maintenance free, a good tidy to remove any damage leaves and apply a good quality general purpose fertiliser to encourage strong healthy growth is best carried out during early Spring.
