History of Coreopsis Zagreb

The Coreopsis Zagreb, Coreopwas discovered and used by native Americans for medicinal and food purposes. The plant was introduced to European settlers in the 18th century and brought over to Europe as an ornamental flower. A cultivar, named Coreopsis Zagreb, was created in 1948 by German horticulturist Ernst Pagels, who named it after the city of Zagreb in Croatia, where he was living. Its large yellow flowers and long blooming period quickly made it a popular choice for landscapes, garden beds, and cut flowers.
