Cercis Forest Pansy, also known as ‘Eastern Red Bud’ is a recipient of the prestigious RHS Award of Garden Merit and is a large, deciduous multi- stemmed garden shrub or ornamental tree.  During early Spring it produces clusters of crimson-pink, sometimes white flowers which create a dazzling display and focal point within the garden.   The broad heart-shaped and pointed ended leaves open a deep purple, turning a plum shade during the summer months, before then changing through various shades of orange, red, yellow and purple towards Autumn.

Looking After Your Cercis Forest Pansy

Generally pest and disease free, an easy to grow plant in many if not all locations, a low maintenance large shrub or small tree which will benefit from a sunny position in a fertile, moist, but well drained soil in all types of garden from cottage planting schemes to town or court-yard planting schemes. Very little pruning is required and any removal of damaged or unwanted branches should be removed in late Autumn/Winter whilst still in the dormant season. Cercis Forest Pansy does not take kindly to transplanting, so choose its position carefully and avoid having to move it later.
