Generally pest and disease free an easy to grow ornamental small tree or large shrub and suitable in many if not all locations from the cottage planting scheme to town, courtyard or coastal garden. A low maintenance plant which will benefit from a sunny or partially shaded area in most types of garden, preferring a rich, acid to neutral, moist, well drained soil. Early Spring apply a good layer of garden mulch around the base to help retain some moisture during the drier Summer months, along with a multi-purpose fertilizer to encourage healthy new growth in the coming season. Little if any pruning is required, although the removal of any damaged or unwanted branches should be removed late Winter/early Spring whilst still dormant.
