Acer Cappadocicum Rubrum, also known as ‘Cappadocicum Maple’, is an exquisite medium to large sized deciduous tree.  This cultivar, with its graceful form adds a tough of elegance to gardens and settings across the country.

This Maple boasts a medium to large size, forming a broadly conical to round canopy that provides ample shade. One of its most striking features is the vibrant red colour of its deeply lobed young leaves, creating a dramatic and eye-catching display. In the Summer, the leaves turn to green and then later assume stunning golden yellow Autumnal tints.

This Acer is adaptable to a range of soil types but thrives in well-drained, fertile soil. It prefers a location with full to partial sunlight, ensuring the best conditions for its growth and the development of its vibrant foliage.

How to care for your Acer Cappadocicum Rubrum

  • Location: Thrives in full sun to partial shade and prefers well-draining soil that is rich in organic matter. It is best to plant it in a location that is protected from strong winds.
  • Watering: Requires regular watering during the growing season, especially during hot and dry weather. Water deeply and thoroughly, making sure the soil around the tree is evenly moist but not waterlogged.
  • Fertiliser: Benefits from regular fertilisation during the growing season to promote healthy growth and vibrant foliage. Use a balanced, slow-release fertilizer, and follow the manufacturer’s instructions for application rates.
  • Pruning: Requires little pruning, but any dead, damaged, or diseased branches should be removed promptly. Pruning should be done in late Winter or early Spring before new growth emerges.
  • Mulching: Applying a layer of organic mulch around the base of the tree will help to conserve moisture, suppress weed growth, and regulate soil temperature. Use a layer of mulch but keep it away from the trunk to prevent moisture buildup.

By following these care tips, you can ensure that your Acer Cappadocicum Rubrum stays healthy and attractive for years to come.
