How to care for your Abutilon Megapotamicum
- Light: Prefers bright, indirect light. Avoid direct sunlight as it can scorch the leaves. Place the plant near a window that receives filtered light or in a location where it can receive bright, indirect light.
- Water: Keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. Water thoroughly and allow the top inch of soil to dry out before watering again. Avoid letting the soil completely dry out, as this can cause leaf drop. During the growing season, you may need to water more frequently, but reduce watering in the winter.
- Fertiliser: Fertilise once a month during the growing season with a balanced, water-soluble fertiliser. Avoid over-fertilising as this can cause the leaves to become burned and damaged.
- Pruning: Prune to maintain its shape and to promote bushy growth. Prune in the Spring before new growth appears. You can also pinch back the tips of the stems to encourage branching.
- Repotting: Repot every 2-3 years, or when the plant becomes root-bound. Use a well-draining potting mix and a pot that is one size larger than the current pot.
By following these tips, you can help keep your Abutilon Megapotamicum healthy and thriving. This plant can bring colour and vibrancy with its beautiful foliage and blooms.
