A personal challenge for a cause very close to my heart

Dear Customer,

This month I wanted to share something a little more personal with you.

On 1st July, just after my 77th birthday, I will be setting off on a 1,100 mile cycle ride from Lands End to John O’Groats.

This is by far the biggest challenge I have ever undertaken – and I am doing it to raise funds for St Margarets Hospice in Taunton.

Not many of you will know that my wife, Jane was cared for by the Hospice during the final months of her life as she battled terminal cancer, finally losing her tremendous battle in March 2026.

The care she received was simply extraordinary.

At one point in November 2025, she was not expected to survive the night, but thanks to the incredible hospice team she pulled through and we were able to spend one last Christmas together as a family – something I will always treasure.

The Hospice supported us all in ways that are hard to put into words, and they do this for families every single day.

I am taking on this challenge with my daughter Samantha cycling alongside me, and my son Justin supporting us along the way.

We are aiming to raise £15,000 to help ensure that other families can receive the same level of care, compassion and dignity that Jane did.

If you feel able to help us support this cause, no matter how small the amount, it would mean a great deal to me and my family.

Thank you, as always, for your support and for taking the time to read this.
