Arbutus Rubra, also known as the ‘Pink Strawberry Tree’, a recipient of the much coveted RHS Award of Garden Merit is a large bushy evergreen shrub or small tree with dark green, leathery, serrate, oval leaves and interesting red shedding bark. Late Summer through to Autumn the small dark pink, urn shaped flowers appear in panicles, at the same time as the red strawberry like fruits develop and ripen on the previous years flowers. A wonderful addition to any garden giving all year colour grown as a specimen or in the larger mixed shrub border, and suitable for coastal planting, also an ideal pollinator attracting many bees and other beneficial insects to the garden.
