Cistus Corbariensis, also known as ‘Rock Rose’, is a dense low spreading, bushy, evergreen shrub.  It has ovate, wavy edged dark green leaves, above which the abundant golden-yellow centred white flowers appear emerging from crimson buds which open in June and continue through to July.  An ideal drought resistant ground cover evergreen plant, suitable for coastal planting, and is ideally suited to a patio planter or sunny border.

Looking After Your Cistus Corbariensis

Generally pest and disease free, an easy to grow garden evergreen shrub in many if not all locations. This low maintenance, drought resistant shrub will benefit from a sunny position in all types of garden from Cottage planting schemes to City gardens, and coastal areas, preferring a poor free draining, dry site away from any wet conditions, making this an ideal shrub as ground cover for any sloping banks within the garden.  Cistus do not respond well to hard pruning so very little is needed, although any light pruning to maintain shape or prevent over crowding should be done after the flowering period. Apply a good quality general purpose fertiliser early Spring to encourage strong new growth during the coming season.
