Magnolia ‘Wada’s Memory’ is a conical, deciduous tree admired for its elegant form and spectacular early Spring display.

In early to mid-Spring, before the leaves emerge, the tree bursts into bloom with an abundance of white, star-like flowers. Each bloom, sometimes lightly flushed with pink at the base, has a slightly fragrant presence and creates a stunning contrast against the bare branches, giving the appearance of a tree dusted with snow.

Growing to 8–12 metres tall with a pyramidal to oval shape, it is ideal as a specimen tree in lawns, courtyards, or large borders. Its dark green foliage turns a soft yellow in Autumn, adding a second season of interest.

This magnolia thrives in full sun to partial shade, in moist, well-drained, slightly acidic soil. With its graceful silhouette, reliable flowering, and year-round beauty, Magnolia ‘Wada’s Memory’ is a timeless choice for gardens seeking elegance and seasonal drama.

How to care for your Magnolia Wada’s Memory

  • Planting: Prefers well-draining soil and a sunny or partially shaded location. When planting, be sure to space the plants appropriately to give them room to grow.
  • Watering: Water regularly, making sure the soil stays moist but not waterlogged. Avoid getting water on the leaves, as this can lead to fungal problems.
  • Fertilising: Benefits from a balanced fertiliser applied once a month during the growing season. Make sure to follow the instructions on the fertiliser package, as over fertilising can damage the plant.
  • Pruning: Pruning is generally not necessary, but if you need to shape, do so after the blooms have faded. Prune back only the oldest branches to promote new growth.

With proper care, your Magnolia Wada’s Memory will thrive and bring beauty and fragrance to your garden for years to come.
