Cornus Alternifolia Variegata, also known as ‘Silver Pagoda’ or ‘Wedding Cake Tree’, is a versatile, deciduous dogwood grown for its compact nature and distinctive layers of floating branches. A stunning architectural small tree, ideal for a sunny position within the garden. The silvery green margined creamy white, ovate foliage, provides suitable support for its clusters of white flowers during May and June, these in turn are followed by blue/ black berries towards the Autumn.
Looking After Your Cornus Alternifolia Variegata
Cornus are very low maintenance and generally disease free, although may be affected by aphids during the summer months. They will tolerate a wide range of soil conditions, but do prefer a moist, well drained situation. Very little, if any pruning is required, although removal of any damaged or unwanted branches should be done early Spring, feed well with a well rotted garden compost or multi-purpose fertiliser.
