Looking After Your Vitis Siebel

Vitis or grape vines are generally tolerant to most soils, but must be free draining with a sunny aspect, usually against a wall or stout trellis/fence. Remove all flowers/fruit for the first two years to allow the root system to establish, then allow three bunches of grapes to form in the third year, there after allow to produce freely, feed regularly regularly with a suitable fertilizer such as liquid tomato feed. Prune early Winter during the dormant season, allowing five to six side branches to develop at the top, remove any other side branches below and between the preferred branches left for fruiting. Remember grapes won’t ripen once picked, so check carefully before doing so.
