Ulex Flore Pleno or ‘Double Gorse’, a recipient of the much coveted RHS Award of Garden Merit is a very hardy evergreen, dense, upright, rounded shrub, often found in coastal areas. It’s tiny grooved spiky leaves are produced along the very spiny green stems which when used as a hedge makes an ideal deterrent from any unwanted visitors to the garden. From early Spring, double, coconut scented yellow pea-like flowers are produced, creating a wonderfully colourful focal point. These are later followed towards Autumn by black seed pods.
