Tulbaghia Silver Lace, also known as ‘Variegated Society Garlic’, a recipient of the prestigious RHS Award of Garden Merit, is a clump-forming, deciduous perennial with narrow strap-like greenish-grey edged silver, onion scented, leaves which taste of garlic. During the Summer months erect stems baring heads of soft, lilac-mauve flowers. Ideal as a mixed border or patio/container perennial.

Looking After Your Tulbaghia Silver Lace

Generally pest and disease free an easy to grow deciduous flowering perennial in many if not all locations. A low maintenance plant which can benefit from a well drained, sunny position in all types of garden from cottage planting schemes to town, courtyard or coastal gardens, some Winter protection may be required in the coldest/windiest weathers, this can be done using fleece or other similar material, in addition to using a generous layer of dry mulch. Lift, then split/divide every third year, once replanted this will help to stimulate flower production in the coming season.
