Stewartia Pseudocamellia or ‘Japanese Stewartia’, a recipient of the much coveted RHS Award of Garden Merit is a beautiful, deciduous Japanese native tree that has white Camellia like flowers upto 6cms across with yellow anthers in mid Summer. The dark green leaves positively glow in the Autumn with varying shades orange and red before falling to reveal the grey and brown patchwork of the bark on the more mature specimens. A stunning focal point for the larger garden.

Looking After Your Stewartia Pseudocamellia

Generally pest and disease free, an easy to grow ornamental tree preferring a well drained but moist, acidic to neutral soil, and sheltered away from any very cold drying winds. There is no need for pruning as this Stewartia tends to hold its own neat shape. Provide a good mulch of well rotted garden compost around the base in early Spring.
