Generally pest and disease free, although can be affected by leaf spot. A low maintenance evergreen garden shrub which can benefit from a sunny or partially shaded area in all types of garden, from the informal cottage planting scheme to the more formal town/courtyard garden. Pittosporum will tolerate most soil types, but will benefit from a humus rich, fertile, moist and well drained type. Any pruning to remove damaged or unwanted branches is best achieved late Spring when the addition of a good quality general purpose fertiliser will help encourage healthy, fresh new growth during the coming season.
