Magnolia Stellata, originating from Japan and also known as ‘Star Magnolia’ is a slow growing, hardy, medium sized bush or small tree. It bears masses of white star shaped slightly fragrant flowers which emerge from it’s grey furry buds in early Spring before the bronze – green, narrowly obovate leaves are formed. These turn to a deep green during the Summer months, changing again to yellow as Autumn approaches when the reddish green knobbly fruits, which open to reveal it’s orange seeds inside can be seen more clearly.
