Hebe Marjorie, commonly known as ‘Veronica’ is a striking evergreen shrub known for its ornamental appeal and versatility in gardens. It features dense, bushy growth with small, glossy green leaves that provide year-round structure and colour.

In Summer and early Autumn, the plant bursts into bloom with spikes of delicate flowers that are pale violet in colour, fading to white, creating a beautiful contrast against the dark foliage. The compact size of Hebe ‘Marjorie’ makes it ideal for borders, containers, or as ground cover. This low-maintenance shrub attracts pollinators like bees and butterflies, making it a great choice for wildlife-friendly gardens.

How to care for your Hebe Marjorie

  • Light: Thrives in full sun to partial shade. For the best flower production and leaf colour, plant it in a sunny spot, but it can tolerate some shade, especially in hot climates.
  • Soil: Plant in well-draining soil, as it doesn’t do well in waterlogged conditions. It prefers slightly acidic to neutral soil but can adapt to most types as long as drainage is adequate.
  • Watering: Water regularly during the first growing season to establish a deep root system. Once established, it is drought-tolerant, but it will benefit from occasional watering during dry spells, particularly in very hot weather.
  • Pruning: Light pruning after flowering helps maintain its compact shape and encourages bushier growth. Remove any dead or damaged branches as needed, and cut back spent flower spikes to promote new blooms.
  • Fertiliser: Apply a balanced, slow-release fertiliser in Spring to support healthy growth and blooming. It doesn’t require much feeding, but a yearly application can enhance its appearance.

By following these simple care guidelines, your Hebe Marjorie will remain a vibrant and attractive feature in your garden for years to come.
