Geranium A.T.Johnson, commonly known as simply ‘Geranium’ and holder of the prestigious RHS Award of Garden Merit, is a beautiful and unique variety of the popular perennial plant Geranium. This plant is known for its pale silvery pink flowers that bloom in the Summer and its small mid green, lobed leaves. It is a hybrid of Geranium Pratense and Geranium Endressii and was developed by A. T. Johnson in the early 20th century.

The plant is native to Europe and Asia and is hardy down to temperatures of < -20˚C. It grows to be around 50 centimetres tall and 1 metre wide, making it a great choice for borders and as ground cover.

Geranium ‘A. T. Johnson’ prefers well-drained soil and full sun to partial shade. It is relatively low maintenance and is drought-tolerant once established. It can be propagated by dividing the root ball in spring or fall. Deadhead spent blooms to encourage re blooming.

How to care for your Geranium A.T Johnson

To care for Geranium A.T.Johnson, water the plant regularly but do not over-water it as this can lead to root rot. Fertilise the plant in the Spring with a slow-release fertiliser. It is also recommended to cut back the plant in Autumn to promote bushiness and prevent legginess in the following growing season. With proper care, this Geranium will provide a colourful and long-lasting display in any garden.
