Fuchsia Lady Thumb or hardy fuchsia and recipient of the much coveted RHS Award of Garden Merit, is a compact, bushy deciduous shrub of upright habit. A superb colourful addition to any border with its small mid – green leaves providing a bold backdrop to the masses of pendant like pink and creamy-white semi-double flowers produced from June right through to the first frosts of the Winter. May also be planted to form an informal low hedge or container planting, attracting bees and butterflies to the garden.
Looking After Your Fuchsia Lady Thumb
An easy to grow, compact deciduous garden shrub in any sunny or partially shaded area of the garden, preferring a fertile, moist and well drained soil. Prune hard back in the Spring after the last frosts and provide a general purpose fertiliser to help encourage plenty of healthy fresh new growth in the coming season. During the Autumn provide a good mulch around the base to help protect the roots from frosts during the colder Winter months, also providing some shelter from very cold and drying winds.
