Deschampsia Cespitosa, also known as ‘Tufted Hair Grass’ may be a deciduous or an evergreen ornamental grass. A neat clump forming dense grass of dark green foliage, above which in early Summer sprays of silvery-purple spikelets emerge on arching stems. Suitable in sunny or partially shaded areas, drought tolerant once established. Ideal for architectural planting schemes and also a much sought after plant by florists as the flower heads may be cut and added to any dried arrangements.

Generally pest and disease free, will tolerate a wide range of soil conditions, including drought, making this an ideal plant for numerous locations including coastal, cottage, city and courtyard gardens. In late Winter/early Spring cut back old stems to ground level to allow fresh new growth to come through, a general purpose slow release fertiliser may be added at this time.
