Daphniphyllum Macropodum is a compact rounded evergreen shrub or small tree with large oval shaped rhododendron-like dark green leaves.  The male flowers are a deep purplish pink whilst the female flowers are green, both being small and inconspicuous and followed by blue black fruit in the Autumn. An ideal food source for the local garden wildlife.

Looking after your Daphniphyllum Macropodum

Generally pest and disease free. Easy to grow, ornamental shrub, suitable in many if not all locations which will benefit from a sunny or semi shaded area, some Winter protection from harsh cold and drying winds will be required.  In Spring apply a good layer of mulch around the base of the plant to help keep the soil moist during the warmer Summer months, also applying a good general purpose fertiliser to promote new growth in the coming season.  Prune to remove any unwanted or damaged stems and as flowering comes to an end.
