Cytisus Lena or Broom as it is often known, and holder of the RHS Award of Garden Merit as is an upright, compact deciduous shrub of spreading habit, with compound, trifoliate, green leaves. Red and yellow flowers appear in May – June, and as they come from the legume family, they have green seed pods in the summer, turning to brown as they ripen.
