Cortaderia Selloana Aureolineata, also known as ‘Variegated Pampas’, a recipient of the prestigious RHS Award of Garden Merit, is a robust clump-forming upright evergreen, perennial grass, with long arching, rough edged green leaves striped length ways with bright yellow. A compact free flowering ornamental grass, it’s erect stems bearing dense silver, tinged pink flower plumes, long lasting and often used by florists for in-door flower arrangements. Providing year round interest this evergreen pampas is an ideal specimen ornamental grass for the mixed shrub border of as often seen within the lawned area of the garden.

Looking After Your Cortaderia  Aureolineata

Generally pest and disease free and an easy to grow ornamental grass in many if not all locations, a low maintenance Pampas grass which can benefit from a sunny area in all types of garden from the informal cottage planting scheme to court-yard, or town garden. Plant in a fertile, moist, but well drained soil, feeding with a good quality general purpose fertilizer early Spring to encourage strong fresh new growth during the coming season. Provide Winter protection from the harshest of cold/drying winds during the first year, whilst still getting established. During late Winter/early Spring, wearing stout gloves, remove the previous years flowering stems, and any damaged leaves.
