Clethra Ruby Spice, also known as Common White Alder,  a recipient of the prestigious RHS Award of Garden Merit, is a bushy deciduous shrub with dark, glossy, oval shaped green leaves.  The rosy pink bottle brush like blooms with a white centre appear in July to September making it very attractive to bees and other pollinating insects, making this plant a useful addition to any garden, suitable for a mixed shrub border or semi shaded woodland setting.
