Chaenomeles x Superba Pink Lady, is also known as the ‘Japanese Quince’ and is a recipient of the prestigious RHS Award of Garden Merit. It is a fully hardy, deciduous, spiny shrub making it ideal for training against a wall or fence. Its glossy mid green leaves provide a wonderful contrast to the dark pink cup-shaped flowers which emerge from late Spring to early Summer. These nectar rich blooms are particularly attractive to the many butterflies and other pollinating insects visiting the garden. As the flowers fade the lovely aromatic green fruits are formed which turn yellow as they ripen towards the Autumn and which are often used to make preserves or jams.
