Chaenomeles ‘Madame Butterfly’, also known as ‘Japanese Quince’ is a bushy and compact growing shrub with dark green and glossy leaves.   It is known for its beautiful, double pink and white flowers with yellow centres that bloom in late Winter through to early Spring,. The shrub can grow up to 1.5 metres tall and wide, making it a great option for landscaping and backyard gardens.

In terms of landscape design, it is a great option for adding colour and texture to your garden. Its attractive flowers and glossy green foliage make it a great option for mixed borders, beds, and as a hedge. It’s also an attractive shrub for cottage and informal gardens.

How to care for your Chaenomeles Madame Butterfly

  1. Planting: Prefers well-draining soil and full sun to partial shade exposure. When planting, make sure to dig a hole that is twice as wide as the root ball and just as deep. Backfill the hole with the removed soil and water thoroughly.
