Chaenomeles x superba Jet Trail, commonly known as ‘Japanese Quince’, is a compact, spreading, deciduous shrub.  It has a low growing and dense habit making it an ideal deterrent for any unwanted visitors to the garden.  In early Spring it produces wonderfully fragrant white flowers and as the flowers fade, fragrant greenish-yellow fruits begin to form.  These fruits ripen during the Autumn and are often used in the kitchen to produce preserves and jams.

Looking After Your Chaenomeles x superba Jet Trail

Generally pest and disease free, an easy to grow flowering shrub in many if not all locations. A low maintenance garden plant which will benefit from a sunny or lightly shaded area in all types of garden.  Plant in a fertile, moist, but well drained soil and feed with a good quality general purpose fertiliser earl Spring to help promote strong, fresh new growth for the coming season. For any hard pruning such as the removal of any damaged or crowded branches is best achieved in the Winter during the dormant season, although light pruning may be done after flowering.
