Cestrum Parqui, also known as ‘Willow Leaved Jessamine’, a recipient of the prestigious RHS Award of Garden Merit, is an upright semi-evergreen or deciduous shrub, its upright stems lined with, long, narrow, mid-green leaves, and topped with clusters of trumpet shaped, night scented yellow-orange flowers, lasting throughout the Summer months, their rich nectar particularly attractive to butterflies and other beneficial insects for the garden, and followed by bunches of small purple-brown, egg shaped berries which are toxic if eaten.
Looking after Your Cestrum Parqui
Generally pest and disease free and an easy to grow shrub in many if not all locations. A low maintenance garden shrub which can benefit from a sunny fertile area in all types of garden from cottage planting schemes to coastal areas, preferring a sheltered position away from any very cold/drying Winter winds, planting in a fertile, moist, but well drained soil, very little if any pruning required, although will benefit from regular dead-heading throughout the flowering season.
