Cestrum Elegans, also known as ‘Red Cestrum’ is a vigorous, medium sized, evergreen garden shrub of graceful, rambling habit.,  Its arching branches bear mid-green, oblong and pointed downy leaves and  pendulous clusters of small, bright purple-red, tubular flowers emerge from May through to late Summer.   As Autumn approaches these flowers make way for small, round, purple-red berries, favoured by the birds preparing for the Winter months.

Looking After Your Cestrum Elegans

Generally pest and disease free, an easy to grow plant in many locations, a low maintenance evergreen garden shrub which will benefit from a sunny position in a fertile, rich loamy, moist, but well drained soil in a sheltered position away from any cold or drying Winter winds.  It is suitable for the mixed shrub border, conservatory or greenhouse.
