Camellia Donation, commonly known as just Camellia, holder or the much coveted RHS Award of Garden Merit, is a strong growing, large, evergreen shrub of upright habit, the large, dark green, glossy leaves providing year round colour, producing showy semi-double light rose-pink flowers during late Winter and early Spring. An ideal garden shrub for planting towards the back of the border, providing a bold backdrop to the showy flowers and the smaller shrubs within the border.
Looking After Your Camellia Donation
An easy to grow evergreen garden shrub in many if not all locations. A low maintenance flowering shrub which will benefit from a sunny or partially shaded area , away from any very cold and drying winds, in all types of garden, from the informal cottage style planting scheme, to the more formal town/city gardens. Originally a woodland shrub, Camellia prefer an acid to neutral humus rich, moist, well drained soil. Very little pruning is required, although removal of any damaged or unwanted branches to maintain shape and height is best achieved after flowering, at the same time apply a good quality liquid feed, to promote fresh new growth.
