Callistemon Salignus, also known as ‘White Bottle Bush’, is an upright spreading, evergreen, large shrub or small tree with distinctive papery white bark. Narrow willow like leaves pink-red when young, maturing to dark green, lemon scented when crushed. From May right through to late Summer an abundance of bottlebrush-like white tinged yellow flower spikes are produced, quite a show stopper for any garden. This large shrub or small tree is ideal for growing at the back of the shrub border or against a sunny wall.
Looking After Your Callistemon Salignus
Generally pest and disease free, an easy to grow large ornamental garden shrub, or small tree in many if not all locations. A low maintenance plant which will benefit from a sunny position in all types of garden. Callistemon Salignus will tolerate most soil conditions and is drought tolerant, preferring a fertile, humus rich, moist, well drained area in a sheltered position away from any cold, drying Winter winds. After flowering remove any damaged or unwanted branches to maintain height and shape. Early Spring feed with a multi-purpose fertiliser to encourage fresh new growth.
