Brachyglottis Walberton Silver Dormouse, also known as ‘Senecio’, holder of the much coveted RHS Award of Garden Merit, is a much improved variety of Senecio, and does not tend to brown in the centre. A bushy, compact, evergreen shrub of upright habit, suitable for container growing, as well as gravel planting and borders. The intense golden yellow of the flowers from June through July set against a backdrop of its silver grey foliage make a stunning addition to any garden. Suitable for coastal planting schemes.

Looking After Your Brachyglottis Walberton Silver Dormouse

Generally pest and disease free and an easy to grow evergreen flowering shrub in many if not all locations. A low maintenance plant which can benefit from a sunny or partially shaded area in all types of garden from informal cottage garden planting schemes to court-yard or coastal gardens. Plant in moist, fertile, humus rich soil which is well drained, feeding with good quality multi-purpose fertiliser during the early Spring to encourage strong new growth, also removing any damaged or unwanted branches to maintain shape. Some Winter protection from very cold winds may be required if planted in very exposed areas.
