Astrantia Roma, commonly known as ‘Masterwort’ and holder of the prestigious RHS Award of Garden Merit, is a fabulous variety of Astrantia with its  deeply lobed, mid-green leaves which contrast well with the delicate looking deep pink, pin cushion-like flowers which last throughout the Summer.  They look stunning when planted with grasses or the mixed flower border, providing a plentiful supply of cut flowers for the keen flower arrangers.

Looking After Your Astrantia Roma

Generally pest and disease free, an easy to grow clump forming perennial requiring very little maintenance and ideal for the long lasting cut flower arrangements, giving a plentiful supply throughout the Summer months. Plant in a humus rich, moist soil in a sunny or partially shaded area of the garden, the sunnier the position the better the flower colour, but always ensure the soil is kept moist. Late Autumn generally give a good tidy by removing any dead foliage/flower stalks and give a good mulch of well rotted garden compost, then in the Early Spring feed with a good quality general purpose fertiliser to encourage strong, healthy fresh new growth in the coming season.
