An attractive evergreen perennial to brighten any garden, providing an ideal ground cover or container plant suitable for any shady area, will adapt quite well to sunnier positions. The ruffled mint green leaves with creamy edging are often tinged purple providing a colourful backdrop to the short spikes of pink flowers which are produced during mid – late Spring. Quite spectacular when mass planted along a bank or border.

Generally pest or disease free, although do look out for powdery mildew ( easily treated ), an easy to grow plant in many if not all locations. A low maintenance perennial adaptable to both sun or full shade in all types of garden from the informal cottage planting scheme to town or woodland gardens. These Ajuga require very little pruning but will benefit from a good tidy removing any spent flower heads to encourage more buds to form and apply a good general purpose fertilizer during early Spring to encourage the fresh new growth for the coming season. Propagation can also be done early Spring to increase stock or control any spreading.
