The Agave Americana Variegata also known as the ‘Variegated Century Plant’, a recipient of the prestigious RHS Award of Garden Merit, is an impressive succulent with rosettes green/blue edged cream spiny lance shaped leaves.
On the more mature plants large panicles of small green/yellow flowers are formed tall erect stems, a quite spectacular focal point, a suitable candidate for the mediterranean, rockery or coastal planting scheme.
Looking After Your Agave Americana Variegata
Generally pest and disease free an easy to grow succulent preferring a sunny and well drained area of the garden, suitable for container/patio situations or mediterranean themed planting schemes surrounded by a light coloured gravel to enhance it’s appearance.
Requiring little or no pruning although a good tidy to remove any damaged leaves is beneficial early Spring when propagation can also be achieved by removing the offsets found around the base.
Protect from very cold weather by using fleece or similar material, if possible move indoors.
