Originating from New Zealand, the Abelia Francis Mason is a superb compact, spreading, semi – evergreen, medium sized shrub. It has gracefully arching branches from which its glossy rich golden yellow variegated leaves are formed. The young shoots are in an attractive reddish brown. A very adaptable shrub, and could be grown as a focal plant in the border or used to make a low informal, colourful hedge.
Looking After Your Glossy Abelia
Generally pest and disease free, an easy to grow shrub in many if not all locations. A low maintenance shrub which can benefit from a sunny fertile area in all types of garden from informal cottage to a more formal town garden. Pruning is best done during March and April before the flowers buds are formed.
