Looking After Your Acer Palmatum Bloodgood

This Acer is an easy to grow small ornamental tree and suitable in many if not all locations. A low maintenance plant which can benefit from partial or dappled shade in all types of garden from informal cottage planting schemes to the more formal town garden, preferring a fertile, moist and well drained soil. In Spring apply a good layer of mulch around the base to help retain moisture during the Summer months, and feed with a general purpose fertiliser. Very little if any pruning is required, although removal of damaged or unwanted branches should be done in Spring while still dormant.
